Verizon customers: Android was a temporary replacement for iPhone-Chicago independent press

Apple Android

Motorola, the Verizon droid smartphone manufacturer, has revealed that sales of Android-based phone took a dip after the announcement of iPhone Verizon/Apple earlier this month. Many tech pundits said that Verizon making a deal with Apple to sell their iPhone vaunted 4, sales of smartphones all operating on Google open source OS, including Motorola droid line will plummet. The reason why is simple. Android is a temporary solution for consumers who wanted an iPhone.

"I was stuck in a contract with Verizon so I could not leave for AT&T," said Courtney Campbell, a customer of Verizon. "To be honest, I wanted to remotely AT&T. I used to have them but their coverage was shit. I figured I would just wait with Verzon and get an iPhone when they finally something worked with Apple. I picked up a droid about a year ago and I was happy with it, I guess, but it was only a temporary solution. You'll be upgrading to an iPhone 4 in February. "

For many users of Android-based phone, using the device is only due to the inability of people to use an iPhone over the network. If you're not a "nerd tech".

"Android is just over the operating system used on the iPhone and iPad," says Monique Trotta, a professional with Zibbits IT. "It is open source so that the operating system allows you to play more. For the mainstream – well I don't think that you care about that. They just want ease. "

Pentalobe screwdriver to Apple iPhone 4-Oneindia

Apple iPhone 4 Apple iPhone 4 now comes with a screwdriver of Pentalobe, which makes it impossible to dismantle the phone from anyone else that Apple showroom. Apple has always aimed to be a complete solution and keep their stuff to themselves. So, the screwdriver Pentalobe is the only solution. The screws are very rare and there is no single supplier to sell it. It is an invention of Apple and is not marketed. Pentalobe screws installed in Apple iPhone 4, are a millimeter in size and makes it impossible for anyone other than Apple to dismantle the Apple iPhone 4.

"The iPhone 4 is a device easy to work on. Since this is a simple device, that's why they block it. If you buy a car, you can do whatever you want with it. It's the same thing with your phone. It is not the phone from Apple, is the phone, "says the CEO of IFixit Kyle Wiens.

The use of Pentalobe SCREWDRIVERS in Apple iPhone 4 is a replacement of ball screws for Phillip. However, the company's strategy is to replace the screws Pentalobe with screws Phillip when a person comses repair of Apple iPhone 4.

Verizon has apparently started providing details about Apple’s iPhone to its corporate customers ahead of the official launch on its network early next month.

The CDMA iPhone 4 will be available for pre-orders from February 3rd to qualified Verizon Wireless customers, ahead of general availability from February 10th.

Macrumors is reporting that they’ve received an email from Verizon with the following information:

- Make sure you have your My Verizon self-serve account set-up online. Orders can only be placed through your my Verizon account. You can register/setup your account at... myaccount.verizonwireless.com- On February 3rd at 3am EST, Verizon Wireless will allow our current customers to order upgrades or new lines to their accounts through your My Verizon online account (make sure you have registered before the 3rd).
It looks like the pre-order inventory will be limited, so if you are a qualified Verizon customer planning to pre-order your Verizon iPhone then remember to keep yourself free on February 3rd at 3am EST as that’s when Verizon will start taking pre-orders online otherwise you will have to wait like others until February 10th, which is public launch date.

Are you planning to pre-order the Verizon iPhone? Let us know in the comments section below.

Gonna stay with at&t (at least for now.) no muti-tasking, no 4g, cdma battery drains faster than gsm, verizon prices too high. Holding out for July (iPhone 5.) See then who (at&t or vwz) offers better deal.

Verizon iPhone 4 preorder to start Feb. 3; AT&T iPhone trade-ins acceptedJanuary 27, 2011 |  9:22am

Levmemnc

Verizon iPhone 4 preorders are set to begin on Feb. 3, seven days before the coveted Apple smart phone hits store shelves at the carrier.

And the largest carrier in the U.S. is also taking AT&T iPhone trade-ins, according to a report from the Website MacRumors. Verizon officials weren't available for comment Thursday morning.

Verizon has announced the preorders in e-mails to its corporate mobile subscribers telling them about the preorder option, noting that the preorder sales will start at 3 a.m. EST, MacRumors said.

Preorders will only be accepted through My Verizon accounts on Verizon's site. Verizon is taking a limited number of preorders, the website said, though the carrier hasn't said just how many.

MacRumors also reported that Verizon is offering trade-in credits for AT&T iPhones toward its version of the iPhone 4, offering from $60 to $360 in credit depending on the model. The credit amounts were listed as:

iPhone 2G (original model) 16GB: $60

iPhone 3G 16GB: $105

iPhone 3Gs 32GB: $160

iPhone 4 16GB: $280

iPhone 4 32GB: $360

Pre-ordered Verizon iPhone 4s will ship to customers via two-day FedEx or, for an extra charge, next-day delivery.

The trade-in move for AT&T customers follows an offer to existing iPhone customers of an up to $200 gift card for those who bought new phones over the holidays and want to switch to the iPhone 4.

Cool. I should see faster speeds starting Feb 3rd. Can't wait for the mass exodus from disgruntled AT&T customers. AT&T's network should be humming faster.

Notice how the phone in the photo is set to 1134, which if rotated spells hell. Perhaps this is an omen for the Verizon iPhone 4.

Gaffe on German site of Apple again hints at iPhone launch white 4-Apple Insider

Gaffe on German site again hints at Apple white iPhone 4 launchBy Sam OliverPublished: 12: 00 PM EST

In the latest bits of anecdotal evidence to suggest that Apple is preparing to release the white version of the iPhone 4, one of the company's international sites briefly see a photo of the device Thursday before it was suddenly pulled.

That is according to TechCrunch, who shot the following screenshot from the German site of Apple before the site was back to reference only the black model less than 20 minutes later.

For Apple, is the second false alarm regarding the white iPhone, news, as many days. Wednesday morning, a Twitter post attributed to a source are often deprived of last minute part numbers noted that "it seems that the iPhone is finally coming" and that the new models would Apple part numbers MC604X and MC606X/A for the 16 GB and 32 GB, respectively.

Both reports followed even close on the heels of claims that Apple recently worked with a Japanese company to develop a new white paint material that gives you greater control and precision when it comes to the thickness of the layer of paint applied to telephones. With this material, Apple has reportedly been able to successfully execute white iPhone 4 that meet its high level of standards.

Using the previous methods of painting, attempts of Apple iPhone in the manufacture of white 4 were said to have led to a "huge" number of defective equipment. The percentage was said to be so high that Apple simply cannot proceed with the manufacture of white iPhone 4 until you have produced a solution.

As such, Apple last July said that it would delay the launch of white iPhone 4 until later that year, just follow these claims with a word of a second delay in October that he would have reported the availability of push out models until times during the spring of 2011.

white iPhone

With the influx of recent trials, which included internal inventory lists to AT&T and Best Buy, it seems increasingly likely that Apple may be preparing to begin selling iPhone white on or around the same time that launches the touch screen handset on the Verizon network come February 10.

THE IPHONE 4 is getting slammed for its inability to handle the cold.

Although the Iphone can be stored at pretty low temperatures, Apple warns that you shouldn't operate the device in freezing temperatures. That's a problem in a country like Finland, which has temperatures below zero for nearly half of the year.

Finland's Consumer Agency said that Iphone buyers are entitled to a refund if they bought one without knowing they would have a problem if they took it outside, reported YLE News. They run the risk of shortening its battery life, or the cold might even cause the phone to stop working temporarily.

This is probably the one area where Nokia might have the jump on Apple. The Finnish phone firm knows all about the effects of the cold on mobile phones, and whatever you might say about its devices, the hardware is still pretty impressive.

For a device that has problems with making and taking calls and glass breakage, and which has an inability to handle extreme temperatures, Apple has done pretty well with the Iphone 4.

The company hasn't really done anything wrong this time because it gives fair warning about its temperature problems, and it is probably the job of the Finnish Apple Store minions to explain that the Iphone 4 might have this problem. ?

A lot more than just one country experiences below zero tempuratures for extended periods.

I would almost expect class actions from places that allow it by the time March rolls around.

The problem here is not the iPhone4 ability or not to operate properly at a given temperature.
The problem are the terms and conditions in which Apple reserves the right not to apply the guarantee if the phone is used under 0 degree.

nest time, rtfa then comment please.

I don't quite get why not all iphones are sold with a free (budget) real phone to make calls and such, that would cost them less than your average screenprotector.
And not just in finland either.

Was a Finn who took a cold iPhone and plugged it into the audio system in his car. Warm, humid car interior. Cold metal & glass iPhone. Result: condensation WHILE the device was operating causing dead phone.

The phones work in cold environments just fine folks, just don't use them where humidity is an issue and give them a chance to clear condensation before use (like you should with most electronics).

It was a Norwegian woman! Sheesh, remember TFA!

Nice set of excuses, though. Steve J would be taking notes if he thought he had anything to learn from the fanbois.
