NFC is a short range wireless technology that enables devices to communicate with each other to perform simple transactions. This technology has been in use in countries like Japan and South Korea – but is yet to take off in the West. Just last month, Japanese mobile carrier Softbank introduced limited NFC functionality using an add-on accessory that sticks to the back of the iPhone for mobile payment.

Bloomberg is quoting Richard Doherty, director of consulting firm Envisioneering Group who has said that Apple would be embedding NFC chips in iPhone 5 and the iPad 2. Doherty in turn is citing engineers who are involved in this project for Apple. It remains to be seen how Apple implements this functionality in iOS. The current speculation is that this could potentially evolve into a payment system that would be tied to iTunes.
“Apple’s service may be able to tap into user information already on file, including credit-card numbers, iTunes gift-card balance and bank data”, says Richard Crone, financial industry adviser Crone Consulting LLC. Crone also adds that Apple would is looking at tapping in to the large online payments market in the US.
According to Doherty, Apple has already created a prototype of a payment terminal that small businesses could use to scan the NFC-enabled iPhones and iPads for payments.
Are you looking forward to turn your iPhone and iPad in to an easy payment system – whilst on the move?
[Via Bloomberg]
TweetShare
Related PostsSoftbank Brings NFC Technology To iPhone 4 For Mobile PaymentsStarbucks Mobile Card App Lets You Pay For Coffee With Your iPhone, iPad, iPod TouchiPhone 5 Will Be Completely Redesigned, Come With Multi-Core Processor; iPad 2 To Come With High Resolution Screen, SD Card Slot & CamerasiOS 4.3 To Bring Mobile Hotspot Feature To GSM iPhonesTurn Your iPhone Into A Credit Card With Visa’s In2Pay Case
Posted by Whizkid on January 27, 2011 in New iPad, Next generation iPad, New iPhone, Next Generation iPhone, iPad 2, 2nd Generation iPad, iPhone 5, iPhone News, iPhone Rumors | Permalink|Comments (9)
Comments
You can follow this conversation by subscribing to the comment feed for this post.
 Bobby said...
Weird – Is this going to be the next “big” feature for iphone and other devices?
January 27, 2011 at 8:39 AM Reply johnny said...
Great! But The Associated Press has learned that some AT&T iPhone users on limited plans won't need to move to Verizon for unlimited data.In an unadvertised loophole, AT&T Inc. has allowed subscribers who have had an unlimited data plan in the past to switch back. That includes anyone who had an iPhone before June, when the limited plans took effect.
So now you know what to do if you plan to stick with AT&T but want the unlimited data plan. We think instead of doing this secretly, AT&T should announce the unlimited data plans for its iPhone customers to avoid losing customer who won't even bother negotiating with AT&T's customer service and will simply switch to Verizon.
If you have managed to switch back to the unlimited data plan then please let us know in the comments section below.
[via WSJ]TweetShare
Related PostsVerizon To Offer Unlimited Data Plan To iPhone CustomersVerizon Will Offer Unlimited Data Plans To iPhone Customers To Take On AT&TAT&T Slashes Rates for iPhone Customers – Unlimited Voice And Data Plan For $99.99AT&T Kills Unlimited Data Plans For iPad; Replaces It With 2GB PlanAT&T Announces New Data Plans And iPhone Tethering; Kills Unlimited Data Plans
Posted by iPhoneHacks on January 26, 2011 in CDMA iPhone, Carriers, GSM iPhone, Verizon iPhone, iPhone News, iPhone Rumors | Permalink|Comments (27)
Comments
You can follow this conversation by subscribing to the comment feed for this post.
 Someone said...
I think that AT&T is going to have to do a little more than offer the unlimited plan again to keep people from jumping ship. Perhaps undercutting Verizon’s data plans a bit and making tethering/hotspot cheaper to use and not charge for extra data… after all, why do we need to pay for data several times. Let us have it and use it as we see fit…
January 26, 2011 at 7:43 PM Reply Jason said...
AT&T is NEVER the leader in price cuts. AT&T iPhone customers who are planning to switch to Verizon iPhone by terminating their contract with AT&T will have to pay an Early Termination Fee (ETF) of $325 (if you had purchased your iPhone before June 1 2010 then you will have to pay ETF of $175) minus $10 for each month that they were with AT&T. We now know why AT&T increased the ETF charges from $175 to $325 in May 2010.
Though users have the option to sell their old iPhones on eBay, Craiglist etc the credit offered by Verizon to AT&T customers for trading in their GSM iPhones appears to be quite attractive if users don’t want to go through the hassle.
Meanwhile, AT&T is quietly offering its iPhone customers unlimited data plans to stop them from switching to Verizon.
If you’re AT&T’s iPhone customer then please let us know what you plan to do in the comments section below.
[via Macrumors]TweetShare
Related PostsAT&T Offering iPhone Customers Unlimited Data Plan To Stop Them From Switching To VerizonRadio Shack Offering iPhone 4 For $25 With iPhone 3GS Trade-inAT&T Offering Recent iPhone 3GS Buyers Credit Rebates Or iPhone 4 Upgrade OptionVerizon Will Offer Unlimited Data Plans To iPhone Customers To Take On AT&TVerizon iPhone Pre-orders To Start At 3am EST On February 3rd
Posted by iPhoneHacks on January 27, 2011 in CDMA iPhone, Carriers, GSM iPhone, Verizon iPhone, iPhone News, iPhone Problems | Permalink|Comments (25)
Comments
You can follow this conversation by subscribing to the comment feed for this post.
 Bruno said...
I will not be switching because I won’t be able to simultaneously be on a call and utilize data features whilst on the Verizon CDMA network. I can tell you that your bargaining power rests in your contract status. Also, each rep’s personality is very different and while one rep may offer you the deal, another rep may not. They’re all authorized to do so at their own discretion.

I was one of the nicer reps and usually understood what the customer wanted to achieve and worked around that. If the rep is in a good mood, he’ll give credit like it’s air. You just have to be nice and understanding while you’re trying to coax the rep into doing what you want him/her to do for you.

For example. Customers who aren’t under contract, I’ve given them $10/mo discounts on their bill for 6-12 months just for being loyal. I’ve also waived fees for upgrades, activations, etc when the situation convinced me that it was worthy. The asses that talked to me, I denied all of their requests and noted their account that the customer called specifically to get away with not paying for service and to deny their requests.
January 27, 2011 at 9:47 PM Reply Digitaltouch said...
So my wife called and let me tell you it wasn’t easy. We had the iPhone 3G for two years with unlimited data, on aug 2010 contract finished so instead of going with the iPhone 4 I went to in other carrier for a week after that we went back to att and got the iPhone 4. So they didn’t give us unlimited data because we canceled our contract and basically started new. So today wifey calls and tells the rep that we would like unlimited data as verizon is going to give to there customers unlimited and they would pay 280 dollars for us to switch. They rep said I can’t do it for us. So my wife could I speak to a manager? So she came on and talked to my wife and at the end of everything the manager said ok we will give it to you starting on the 6th of feb. Were happy we don’t have to deal with watching our data no more. Wish ya luck in trying. Just be nice and no what your saying.
January 27, 2011 at 11:51 PM Reply iPhone pervert said...
I’ll stay with AT&T. Why would you feel bad for Android?? Seriously.. I don’t see the reason behind your statement.. Do you read the news from mobile websites?? Android is creeping up and about to surpass iOS!!! Yeah, I know, they’re making it sound like iPhone would regain momentum as soon as VZW starts selling the iPhone.. But trust me, those people that will sign up to VZW iPhone deal, are the same people that’s been using iPhone from ATT.. Because those who have Android, would definitely stick with Android and all it’s glory!! Do you see how many Android devices are coming out this year?? Tegra CPU’s (dual cores!) etc?? And iPhone has what in line?? White casing??? Come one now.. Get your facts together!! And lastly, with that same reason why ATT will go down the drain.. Their limited data, dropped calls etc.. The only reason why they’re still #2 on the top wireless provider here in the US right now, is because of iPhone.. And now that VZW is offering iPhone, it’s only a matter of time before ATT becomes the 3rd or 4th on the TOP wireless providers here in the US!! Besides, Android is the future.. Those who sticks with iPhone’s are just fanboys.. Android has just wayyyyyyyyy too many to offer compared to iPhone.. And that’s a fact!!
January 28, 2011 at 12:40 AM Reply Jayydoggy said...
Supernova your an idiot Enough said?
January 28, 2011 at 1:52 AM Reply oh Yeah? said...
Agreed
January 28, 2011 at 2:35 AM Reply obviouscoin said...
I suppose CDMA is okay – that is, if you don’t travel internationally. Many tech pundits said that Verizon making a deal with Apple to sell their iPhone vaunted 4, sales of smartphones all operating on Google open source OS, including Motorola droid line will plummet. The reason why is simple. Android is a temporary solution for consumers who wanted an iPhone.

"I was stuck in a contract with Verizon so I could not leave for AT&T," said Courtney Campbell, a customer of Verizon. "To be honest, I wanted to remotely AT&T. I used to have them but their coverage was shit. I figured I would just wait with Verzon and get an iPhone when they finally something worked with Apple. I picked up a droid about a year ago and I was happy with it, I guess, but it was only a temporary solution. You'll be upgrading to an iPhone 4 in February. "

For many users of Android-based phone, using the device is only due to the inability of people to use an iPhone over the network. If you're not a "nerd tech".

"Android is just over the operating system used on the iPhone and iPad," says Monique Trotta, a professional with Zibbits IT. "It is open source so that the operating system allows you to play more. For the mainstream – well I don't think that you care about that. They just want ease. Apple has always aimed to be a complete solution and keep their stuff to themselves. So, the screwdriver Pentalobe is the only solution. The screws are very rare and there is no single supplier to sell it. It is an invention of Apple and is not marketed. Pentalobe screws installed in Apple iPhone 4, are a millimeter in size and makes it impossible for anyone other than Apple to dismantle the Apple iPhone 4.
"The iPhone 4 is a device easy to work on. Since this is a simple device, that's why they block it. If you buy a car, you can do whatever you want with it. It's the same thing with your phone. It is not the phone from Apple, is the phone, "says the CEO of IFixit Kyle Wiens.

The use of Pentalobe SCREWDRIVERS in Apple iPhone 4 is a replacement of ball screws for Phillip. However, the company's strategy is to replace the screws Pentalobe with screws Phillip when a person comses repair of Apple iPhone 4.

View the original article here
sinthaihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00489784881328372803noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2342936834965230932.post-90719064263518464082011-01-31T13:19:00.000-08:002011-01-31T13:19:00.326-08:00Apple releases iTunes 10.1.2, needed for CDMA iPhone 4-9 to 5 Mac

Apple has just released iTunes 10.1.2 and is available from the download page of iTunes and the Apple software update application for Mac and PC. Orders can only be placed through your my Verizon account. You can register/setup your account at... myaccount.verizonwireless.com- On February 3rd at 3am EST, Verizon Wireless will allow our current customers to order upgrades or new lines to their accounts through your My Verizon online account (make sure you have registered before the 3rd).
It looks like the pre-order inventory will be limited, so if you are a qualified Verizon customer planning to pre-order your Verizon iPhone then remember to keep yourself free on February 3rd at 3am EST as that’s when Verizon will start taking pre-orders online otherwise you will have to wait like others until February 10th, which is public launch date.
Are you planning to pre-order the Verizon iPhone? Wednesday morning, a Twitter post attributed to a source are often deprived of last minute part numbers noted that "it seems that the iPhone is finally coming" and that the new models would Apple part numbers MC604X and MC606X/A for the 16 GB and 32 GB, respectively.

Both reports followed even close on the heels of claims that Apple recently worked with a Japanese company to develop a new white paint material that gives you greater control and precision when it comes to the thickness of the layer of paint applied to telephones. With this material, Apple has reportedly been able to successfully execute white iPhone 4 that meet its high level of standards.

Using the previous methods of painting, attempts of Apple iPhone in the manufacture of white 4 were said to have led to a "huge" number of defective equipment. The percentage was said to be so high that Apple simply cannot proceed with the manufacture of white iPhone 4 until you have produced a solution.

As such, Apple last July said that it would delay the launch of white iPhone 4 until later that year, just follow these claims with a word of a second delay in October that he would have reported the availability of push out models until times during the spring of 2011.

With the influx of recent trials, which included internal inventory lists to AT&T and Best Buy, it seems increasingly likely that Apple may be preparing to begin selling iPhone white on or around the same time that launches the touch screen handset on the Verizon network come February 10.

Apple among the creators of the global top 5 mobile phone straight second quarter
Briefly: Foxconn struggles retail, cold weather It's safe to say that Nokia wins here By Asavin Wattanajantra Fri Jan 28 2011, 11:17
THE IPHONE 4 is getting slammed for its inability to handle the cold.

Although the Iphone can be stored at pretty low temperatures, Apple warns that you shouldn't operate the device in freezing temperatures. That's a problem in a country like Finland, which has temperatures below zero for nearly half of the year.

Finland's Consumer Agency said that Iphone buyers are entitled to a refund if they bought one without knowing they would have a problem if they took it outside, reported YLE News. They run the risk of shortening its battery life, or the cold might even cause the phone to stop working temporarily.

This is probably the one area where Nokia might have the jump on Apple. The Finnish phone firm knows all about the effects of the cold on mobile phones, and whatever you might say about its devices, the hardware is still pretty impressive.

For a device that has problems with making and taking calls and glass breakage, and which has an inability to handle extreme temperatures, Apple has done pretty well with the Iphone 4.

The company hasn't really done anything wrong this time because it gives fair warning about its temperature problems, and it is probably the job of the Finnish Apple Store minions to explain that the Iphone 4 might have this problem. ?

Comment on this article Flame Author Print Share this: del.icio.us Digg Facebook Linkedin reddit! StumbleUpon Twitter Share Related articles Microsoft is Russian into defending NGOs Gives free licences to stop government raids Tuesday, 14 September 2010, 11:09 AM Read more US government interrogates a Wikileaks associate Does not like Tor either Monday, 2 August 2010, 15:16 PM Read more Asustek shows off two tablets Running Windows Monday, 31 May 2010, 10:15 AM Read more Asus Eee PC 1005PE A Pine Trail update to the Seashell netbook Friday, 26 February 2010, 12:12 PM Read more Bluetooth is behind credit card thefts Coppers flummoxed Wednesday, 14 July 2010, 10:59 AM Read more ATI 880G info surfaces in Linux driver Welcome to the 0x9710, 0x9711, 0x9714, 0x9712 and 0x9713 Monday, 23 March 2009, 16:25 PM Read more < Previous article| Next article > Comments Not just Finland!
A lot more than just one country experiences below zero tempuratures for extended periods.

I would almost expect class actions from places that allow it by the time March rolls around.
posted by : Steve-O, 28 January 2011 Complain about this comment what about research prior to writing articles?
The problem here is not the iPhone4 ability or not to operate properly at a given temperature.
The problem are the terms and conditions in which Apple reserves the right not to apply the guarantee if the phone is used under 0 degree.

nest time, rtfa then comment please.
thx
posted by : phil, 28 January 2011 Complain about this comment bundle up
I don't quite get why not all iphones are sold with a free (budget) real phone to make calls and such, that would cost them less than your average screenprotector.
And not just in finland either.
posted by : W.-, 28 January 2011 Complain about this comment Where this all came from
Was a Finn who took a cold iPhone and plugged it into the audio system in his car. LeBuhn argues that the company knows the flaw, but refuses to warn customers that "normal use"--which, in the case of LeBuhn, involved dropping the iPhone from a height of about three meters--will cause the glass to break.
Affirmation of LeBuhn relies in part on the accident, where his daughter deleted the iPhone 4 just three weeks after the purchase while sending a text message. However, LeBuhn says he previously owned the 3GS iPhone and also fall from a height of similar, but in this case has not broken the glass.

LeBuhn, regardless of provider SquareTrade warranty reported accidents in their database and found that the owners of iPhone 4 were much more likely to damage the newer model than the previous one. Certificates of screen damage reported by SquareTrade as 82 percent higher in the first four months of availability compared to a similar period for the iPhone 3GS. The total reported accident rate was 68 percent higher. SquareTrade blame the majority of claims on the rear glass panel of iPhone 4, which is not present in previous models.

LeBuhn asks the Court to order Apple to refund the purchase price for all owners of iPhone 4 in the lawsuit, to reimburse the customer for the costs of repairing and make repayment to compensate customers "their excess in buying iPhone defective 4s." The iPad comes to India nine months after it was launched in the US.

Starting January 28, users in India will be able to buy the iPad from an Apple retailer.

The 16GB iPad with Wi-Fi model has been priced at Rs. 27,900 ($610), the 32GB iPad with Wi-Fi model is priced at Rs. 32,900 ($720) and the 64GB iPad with Wi-Fi model is priced at Rs. 37,900 ($830). As for the Wi-Fi+3G versions, these are slightly more expensive with the 16GB model priced at Rs.34,900 ($760), the 32 GB model priced at 39,900 ($853) and the top of the line 64 GB model priced at Rs. 44,900 ($ 983).

BSNL has announced new data plans specially for iPad users. The unlimited data plan is available for Rs.999 ($45). This plan is available in both prepaid and postpaid options. Other prepaid plans include a cheaper one at Rs. 599 ($ 27) for up to 6GB of usage. There is also a daily plan priced at Rs.99 ($2) for unlimited data. All plans are available without a contract.

While it might seem expensive when compared to the prices in US, for example: the 64GB iPad with Wi-Fi+3G is available for $829 in the US), it is apparently a lot cheaper than the iPad available in the grey market. According to some reports, the iPad was available in the grey market for as much as Rs, 70,000 ($1532) when it was initial launched in the US.

Apple recently released a new iPad commercial called "iPad is Iconic":

If you are from India, please let us know what you think about the pricing and the data plans. However, some of which may be thought that the carrier was going to make it a standard feature can think again. A Verizon spokesman confirmed to Macworld that tethering would be an optional feature, quantified.

Verizon will charge an increase of $ 20 per month, which will give the user 2 GB of data to be used (use Add-in is charged at $ 20/1 GB). This will be a separate data plan and follows the price to tie on other smart phones on the network that have the capacity. While the charge may dampen enthusiasm, is a bit better than AT&T tethering offering, which costs even $ 20 a month, but takes your iPhone data plan. This means that you only have 2 GB for general use before you're socked with excess charges.

I wonder if AT&T will respond by modifying their plan to tie, but I am not going to hold my breath.

For more smart takes on technology, visit Technologizer.com. The company had a small profit on the rise in 2010 to $ 11.4 billion, which was up from $ 11 billion in 2009. This overturned an operating loss for 2009 of over 1.2 billion dollars and gave them a profit of $ 76 million.

This may seem like a good deal for Motorola by getting rid of one billion operating loss is a great feat, but the company has been cautious because some difficult times ahead is waiting. Fell short of its fourth quarter sales target for its smartphones, but that does not surprise anyone, since the business was non-existent during the second half of 2010, while at the same time their competitors were debut gadget bigger and better, but now will face strong competition even more.

Motorola was enjoying a very close association with the Verizon wireless carrier, however, Sanjay JHA, CEO of Motorola mobility, said analysts who was worried about how they will affect Apple IPhone 4, will be released by Verizon in February. The activity includes a net loss of somewhere between $ 26 to $ 62 million in the first quarter of 2011. Moreover, Mobility actions were also badly affected Motorola for the New York Stock Exchange, which fell six percent when the news was announced.

However, there may be some light at the end of the tunnel for Motorola. At CES, Motorola media showed its new tablet PC that Xoom is the first to use Android 3.0. They have also released information on their smartphone newAtrix. These gadgets have been well received by the media.

But none come out in time to impact sales in the first quarter of 2011, Motorola hopes that, just like the original smartphone Milestone, Xoom and Atrix means new life for the company.

View the original article here
sinthaihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00489784881328372803noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2342936834965230932.post-5987807510502339662011-01-29T14:07:00.000-08:002011-01-29T14:07:00.381-08:00Speck Seethru Satin for iPhone 4 Review-Appmodoserver temporarily unavailable

Foto

View the original article here
sinthaihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00489784881328372803noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2342936834965230932.post-5167658113747266722011-01-29T09:22:00.000-08:002011-01-29T09:22:00.126-08:00The pros and cons of iPhone 4-the whitenesstext is null
Parameter name: text

View the original article here
sinthaihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00489784881328372803noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2342936834965230932.post-58373405542854877972011-01-29T04:26:00.000-08:002011-01-29T04:26:00.333-08:00Verizon offering $ 200 for AT&T iPhone Trade-Ins, but better deals are available-Brighthand

Now that Verizon is getting the iPhone 4, is doing all it can to attract former AT&T faithful, including offering a trade-in service to older devices.

Users can exchange an old (yet still functional) iPhone 3 G 8 GB for $ 36 or the newest iPhone 4, 16 GB for $ 212.

A better option
This looks a seductive deal by Verizon, but there is some intrigue, as it turns out that Verizon recycling partner, cycle-buyback service and mobile phone (apparently competitors) offers customers a better deal.

The very same ecological service will buy iPhone 3 G 8 GB for $ 90 and an iPhone identical 4, 16 GB for $ 280.

In most cases, assessments offered on the website and lifecycle are moderately to significantly higher than those offered by Verizon.

Companies have a "solution business alliance", and apart from the buyback offer/trade-ins online, both will be at Macworld Expo that offer these services.

The Verizon iPhone will be available on February 10th, barter or not.

Related articles:

View the original article here
sinthaihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00489784881328372803noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2342936834965230932.post-92547837719051732011-01-29T00:41:00.000-08:002011-01-29T00:41:00.776-08:00Sinbad brings iPhone Verizon 4 in 2011 Macworld keynote-Beatweek Magazine
Thanks to Verizon next biggest feature of the iPhone will be "receiving", according to the Apple aficionado and comedian Sinbad, who handled keynoting functions at Macworld 2011 first today. After a series of long hours where he he riffed on the funnest Apple platform fits into the landscape as global technology, Sinbad open things up to questions from the audience. What will the new features that he thinks the next iPhone, he replied simply, "welcome, thanks to Verizon." He then went on to make light of the poor-reception phone calls that some AT&T iPhone users have encountered over the years.

That the iPhone Verizon recently unveiled 4 is on the wish list of Sinbad is a surprise. When Sinbad Beatweek talked to an earlier version of Macworld Expo a couple of years back, has shown us that when he was carrying two cellphones: a not-AT & T telephone to make calls and an iPhone AT&T to do everything else.

Sinbad occupied the first of many feature slot presentation scheduled for 2011 of Macworld. Eyeballing based (and Wade through) crazy day, exhibit hall attendance is up from last year, which was the first year of post-Apple event. Several visitors have returned to exhibit at Macworld 2011 after missing the event in 2010. But very likely chagrin of Sinbad, Verizon iPhone 4 is not on display here – even if there is an exhibitor Verizon-AT&T iPhones partnered, giving back to the purpose of allowing users to go with a Verizon iPhone 4 instead of buying. LeBuhn said his iPhone shattered when her daughter fall from a height of about three meters when sending a text message.

"Months after selling millions of iPhone 4s, Apple failed to warn and continue to sell this product without any warning to customers that the glass casing is defective," LeBuhn wrote in lawsuit.

This is the second big stink raised shattered glass on iPhone 4. In October, reports emerged that small pieces of matter that has trapped in iPhone 4 cases sliding made the iPhone 4 more prone to breakage. Report of the problem has become so widespread that printing technology dubbed "glassgate" and a search firm called SquareTech released figures that the latest model of the iPhone broke the 82 percent more often the iPhone 3GS.

Apple reporter Johnny Evans called the claims into question when they emerged in October, saying that the numbers were reported in a way that made them seem more significant than it was.

"Described as ' 82 percent ' of course, this sounds like a big deal, but in reality it means 3.9 percent of owners of iPhone 4 20,000 reported a broken screen instead of 2.1% of 20,000 iPhone 3GS owners," he wrote.

Glassgate, unlike its predecessor Antennagate, never quite like the problem was almost is not as widespread. TD-SCDMA is the Chinese 3G standard that is used by China Mobile. However, the TD-SCDMA version of the iPhone never arrived. Instead, Apple launched the iPhone in China with China Unicom as the official carrier partner.

China Mobile's Chairman Wang Jianzhou has revealed that Apple will fully support long-term evolution (LTE) 4G networks in the future. Reuters reports:
"We hope that when they develop the next-generation models, since Apple can create CDMA, they can also consider developing TD-SCDMA. These two years we have been discussing the issue. Right now the situation is moving forward. Apple has made it clear they will support TD-LTE," he said.
Even though we hear that there is crazy demand for iPhone 4 in China, Apple’s growth in China has been somewhat limited by its presence on only one of the carriers – that too, the smaller one. For Apple to expand its reach in China, it has to tap in to the vast subscriber base that China Mobile. With 584 million subscribers, China Mobile is by far, the biggest carrier not just in China, but the entire globe. China Unicom on the other hand had “just” 167.4 million subscribers.
Apple's Chief Operating Officer Tim Cook had revealed that one of the reasons for launching Verizon iPhone that supported CDMA network instead of the new LTE 4G network was because first-generation LTE chipsets would force design changes, which Apple was not prepared to make.
Based on Cook's comment, it remains to be seen if iPhone 5 will support 4G LTE or TD-LTE networks. Do you think lack of 4G support will be a deal-break for users planning to buy a smartphone in summer?
[via Reuters]
TweetShare
Related PostsChina Unicom Strikes Deal with Apple to Finally Bring the iPhone to ChinaChina Unicom to Start Selling iPhones from October; Will Cost a Lot Cheaper?China Unicom To Offer Jailbreak Service & Free Cases To iPhone 4, iPad Customers?China Unicom Reports Opening Weekend Sale of 5000 iPhone HandsetsCrazy Demand For iPhone 4 In China
Posted by iPhoneHacks on January 26, 2011 in Apple News, New iPhone, Next Generation iPhone, iPhone 5, iPhone News, iPhone Rumors | Permalink|Comments (7)
Comments
You can follow this conversation by subscribing to the comment feed for this post.
 Supaa stahh marioo said...
Sounds rather interesting
January 27, 2011 at 12:11 AM Reply jorge said...
If it doesn’t have 4G support , there is no way will buy it on summer
January 27, 2011 at 6:26 AM Reply midkidd said...
Thats some bullshit a new phone is coming out with old technology(It might have dual core processors though).
