If you like installing the latest themes on your jailbroken iPhone to give it a new look but never enjoyed the experience of finding a theme due to the haphazard way in which the themes are arranged in Cydia then we have some good news. Things are going to get a lot better.

Saurik, developer of Cydia – the App Store for jailbreak apps has recently updated Cydia to add a Themes only section called “Theme Center” that is accessible from the front page.

You may have already noticed it. If you launch Cydia, you will now see a link to the Themes center. Tapping on it, takes you to the revised Theme Center where you can select between themes for iPhone 4 [HD (iPhone 4, “Retina”)] and themes for iPhone 2G, iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS.

The themes available currently are featured themes that has been selected by MacCiti, ModMyi and Planet-iPhones. They plan to provide new content on a bi-weekly basis. In Cydia 1.1, which is expected to be released soon, will also allow users to submit their own themes and also vote for the best themes.

Some themes are available for free, while the paid ones cost anywhere from $0.99 to $2.99.

Theme Center is the latest in the series of changes that Saurik plans to rollout in the next few weeks to improve the jailbreak app store. Last week, Saurik had updated Cydia with a new ‘Manage Account’ feature, which shows the list of jailbreak apps that have been purchased from the Cydia App Store.

I made over 20, it is quite hard the first 3 times, but for the ones on Cydia that are paid, they are complete themes every little item that can be modified is moddified

Redsn0w 0.9.7 developed by the iPhone Dev Team that is currently available for beta testing - needs iOS 4.2 beta3 SHSH blobs, which is a major problem as it limits the number of users who can use it (as beta versions of iOS is only available to developers of iOS Dev program).

iPhone Dev Team have recently announced that they're planning to address this issue as they've managed to successfully port the Monte technique to iOS 4.1.

iPhone Dev Team revealed this via the following tweets:

Ported Monte back to 4.1 kernel (SHSH blobs). Next step: porting it forward to 4.3beta!

MuscleNerd has provided some more details about the Monte technique:

@Harchu30 the beauty of Monte is it doesn't expose any new exploits :) It makes the entire "wait until next FW" concern moot@digitaldj yep! The concept behind Monte-4.1 is to look exactly like stock 4.1 until pwnage, then switch over completely to 4.2.1Think of Monte as a "green" jailbreak. It recycles (for example) 4.1's exact JB exploit on 4.2.1 :) Waste no exploits.

This means that users will be able to use Redsn0w 0.9.7 to perform an untethered jailbreak of their iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch on iOS 4.2.1 using iOS 4.1 SHSH blobs (which would have been automatically saved by Cydia if you had jailbroken your iOS device while it was running iOS 4.1).

Meanwhile, Chronic Dev Team have also announced that they’re planning to release an updated version of greenpois0n to jailbreak iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch on iOS 4.2.1. The jailbreak will be untethered and doesn’t need SHSH blobs.

There is currently no ETA available on when the updated version of greenpois0n and Redsn0w for iOS 4.2.1 will be available.

Dev team need to step it up a little! or is it coz geohots is not helping them anymore so they can take credit for his work?

You obviously dont undersytand. You use the old IoS to jailbreak to newer. So all future are jail breakable using the old iOS. Never have to wait for an exploit that works.

iOS jailbreaking is practically a process easy to put the device iOS. If we are talking about iPhone AT&T 4, iPad, iPod touch or Apple TV, the current jailbreak solutions out there will release the device from the shackles of Apple and install custom software on it, not to mention of release, where available.

Redsn0w 0.9.7, the final version (and so far we have seen some beta versions) to lighten the jailbreak your iPhone GSM 4, iPad and iPod touch running iOS 4.2.1 using files of iOS 4.1 instead of those iOS 4. SHSH BLOBS 2b3 that could not have been saved.

Nicknamed "Monte", the new version of Redsn0w is still in testing phase, but MuscleNerd has confirmed today that were used in the files of iOS 4.1 and the same technique will be brought to iOS 4.3 when it comes out.
